Riding School

Riding Instruction

York Equestrian Riding School is first and foremost a teaching institution, providing a well-rounded program for all ages and abilities.

We specialize in hunt seat equitation and jumping. York's head trainer, John Skey is a certified coach who is committed to providing superior service for the equestrian community. We teach riding skills in small groups, matched in age and ability. There is an excellent selection of well-trained horses and ponies and our staff will guide you from novice to advanced, with care and expertise.

Lessons

Lessons run year-round with winter classes taking place in our indoor arena that is heated enough to take away winters worst bite . In the summer, riding lessons spread out into our huge outdoor ring. Hour-long group lessons are available on week days and evenings plus all day Saturday and Sunday. Private lessons can be booked upon request. Students should allow enough time to groom their horse before and after each lesson.

Riding Equipment

Each rider needs a helmet for personal safety and boots with a heel. Helmets are essential safety equipment and each student must have their own.

School Groups

Individual schools may arrange for their students to receive lessons in basic riding skills as well as horsemanship.

Riding School Activities

Throughout the year, activities include scheduled practice rides, schooling shows, Christmas, March break, and summer camps, evening and all-day clinics. Saturdays are always devoted to riding competitions in a club atmosphere. Newsletters are available to keep students up to date on events.

Gift Certificates
